Black Forest Airport Lahr

Since 2001 Lahr airport is being managed by a private airport investor. During this period applications were made to extend the licence public airfield into a general regional airport licence.

After a change of investors in 2005, the new investor Babcock & Brown reached a first aim. The state of Baden-Wuerttemberg granted a restricted licence as Special Airport for charter-flights with destination Europa-Park. Large passenger aircraft are now allowed to bring guests visiting Europa-Park.

With this compromise Black Forest Airport Lahr is not competing against the existing airports in the region that are run by public authorities.
